The Project

is a European Industrial Doctorate (EID) project funded by the EU within the FP7 framework Marie-Curie Initial Training Networks. It aims at training a new generation of creative, entrepreneurial and innovative early-stage researchers able to face current and future challenges and convert knowledge and ideas into products and services for economic and social benefit.

Its main technical objective is to create an industrial-oriented educational and research framework for the development of integrated numerical and experimental procedures for the acoustic characterisation and simulation of car cabin interior noise.

Acoustic design is a challenging topic which requires the knowledge of both cabin structure and its component materials as well as the definition of the propagation paths inside the cabin itself. The ambition of ENHANCED is to develop experimental measurement procedures for the characterisation of interior acoustic fields as well as numerical models for the assessment of the impact of design modifications on overall cabin interior noise and passengers’ comfort.

To this aim, three complementary fields will be addressed and integrated by the activity of three especially enrolled PhD students who will be working in close correlation:
acoustic measurement and noise source identification and separation, hybrid numerical modelling and sound engineering.
